About Melanie

Melanie Yee

LPC, SEP     She/Her

I work with people who long for healing and wholeness. You may be struggling with anxiety, a life transition, past trauma, grief and loss, or chronic pain/illness symptoms. Maybe you sense a rift between your soul’s yearning and your current path.

Helping Others

As a therapist, I provide a compassionate space that welcomes you as you are and invites you into who you are becoming. I practice a counseling approach that honors your voice and wisdom, recognizes the interplay between mind, body, and spirit, and integrates research-based approaches. I use mindfulness-based and trauma-informed modalities in the therapy room, like somatic Internal Family Systems, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I invite nature and spirit into the healing process, as well. If you are experiencing chronic pain or mind-body symptoms, we might also explore Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) and Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET)–both science-based approaches for the treatment of mind-body symptoms.

I received my Masters in Clinical Mental Health from Naropa’s Mindfulness-based Transpersonal Counseling Program, a program that integrates modern psychology with more holistic mental health approaches. I also worked as a therapist at an integrated primary care clinic and developed a curriculum for chronic pain and illness therapy groups. Before becoming a therapist, I worked on USAID (foreign aid) projects, partnering with communities in countries like Jamaica and Sri Lanka and training staff on project management. Health issues forced me to leave this career, and many of the modalities that I use today as a therapist helped me heal enough to become one.

Finding My Wisdom

Outside of counseling, you might find me wandering the foothills with my dog and camera, curled up with tea and a book, or cooking food for hungry family and friends. I am eager to connect with you and would be honored to walk alongside you on your healing journey.
