About Meg

Meg Kies

MA, LPCC     She/Her

Just like you, I’m following my own journey to become the best version of me. I suffered from a sudden and unexpected illness which necessitated a move away from a career I had spent many years building. I had lost a career and identity, and had to deal with the invisible illness which has upended my life.

This created an opportunity for growth, healing, and change. Following my intuition, I used my illness as a catalyst for transformative motivation and a new path and purpose came into view. I wanted to study, research, and explore areas which could help chronic pain and illness.

Helping Others

Before I could help others, I needed to turn inward to begin  my own healing. To do this I got a Master’s of Arts in religious Studies at Naropa University focusing in Indo-Tibetan Buddhism. I was able to study under Professors who were Oxford scholars, Buddhist Acharyas, and Lamas alike, and learn from them the foundations of meditative and contemplative practices. I then took that knowledge to Naropa’s Graduate School of Counseling and Psychology to gain a second Master’s degree – this one concentrating in Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling. With both these degrees and further certifications and trainings, my therapeutic approach utilizes Eastern spiritual practices and Western evidence-based techniques.

Trainings and Certifications include:

Somatic Experiencing (SE™) Level II

Pain Reprocessing Therapy Level II

Mindfulness Instructor Certified – Naropa University

The Chronic Pain Toolbox: Effective Interventions for Treating Complex Chronic Pain

Dialectical Behavior Therapy & Mindfulness Dual Certification Training: Interventions for Trauma, Anxiety, Addiction, Personality Disorders, Chronic Pain, & More

Finding My Wisdom

I’m on a continual path of self-discovering to honor myelf and find gratitude in my life. Outside of my time with you, I’m also an adjunct instructor at Naropa University and Meditation Instructor. You can usually find me on a Colorado mountain or ice or rock climbing. I find nature to be grounding, healing, and resourceful, and look forward to helping you explore the meaningful experiences in your life.
